my petite princess

Today was Mia's 6 month check up and it went great! Dr. Selig was chuckling about Mia's milestones of crawling and sitting up. She joked with Mia and said "what do you think you are 9 months old!?!". Mia is steadily growing in the 25th percentile, hence my little petite princess! She is now 14 lbs 8 oz (an exact doubling of her birth weight) and measuring in at 25 inches long. Dr. said she can increase solids/cereals to three times a day! I am still nursing her, plan on it until she's about 1 year and she is supplementing formula during the day with her sitter....however mommy and some of her fellow mommy friends at school are going to attempt to have a 'pumping session' during lunch tomorrow! So if that goes ok (no kiddos walking in on us) she can drink BM during the day too.

She is doing better and better at Diane's each day and it's getting easier to drop her off. I know she is having fun and when I pick her up, she is all smiles and giggles. She loves watching her new friends and it's a very cute group of kiddos she is with. Let's hope the year continues as smoothly as I prayed it would go!

Daddy has been working crazy late hours because his office moved and Mia has missed her daddy! In the mornings when she sees him she laughs and 'ohhh ohhh's him, it's really cute.

relief

Today was Mia's first day with her babysitter, Diane, and it went GREAT! I cried when I dropped her off. But around 11am, I called to check up on her and she was doing just fine. She took her usual three naps and even slept for over an hour for her middle nap! hooray! Grammy was able to get her to nap that long too the day before (guess she just loves mommy soo much and doesn't want to sleep when I am home with her, hehe). When I picked her up, she was still napping. The other kids are great, Mia has already made friends with them. She was cooing and laughing at them so that really warmed my heart and made me feel relief. There is another little girl that is 13 months and I have a feeling they are going to become best friends!!

Diane has been babysitting kiddos and teaching pre-k for years. She said in all her years she has NEVER seen a baby as physically advanced as Mia for her age. Go little peanut! Tuesday is Mia's 6 month check up!

Mia has also enjoyed eating lots of yummy homemade solids mommy has made for her! So far banancado and apples are her faves!

6 months old!!!!

Mommy's little Mia is 6 months old today! Hard to believe she has been on this earth for half a year! She is getting so big; talking up a storm, sitting for longer periods of time and crawling farther distances. Grammy watched Mia for mommy today and yesterday afternoon and had a great time. Tomorrow is Mia's first day with Diane. I hope it goes ok!

the crib is now...

on the lowest setting possible. Mia thinks this new game of standing up in her crib is the funniest thing in the world! Today she simply didn't want to nap. I would put her down and a few seconds later she was up and about!!! I just had to share another pic of her today right before daddy lowered the mattress. Mia is growing up way too fast for me! She needs to slow down a bit! We now can put her in her BOB stroller since she is sitting up on her own. Here she is with daddy at Irwin Park. We took Bosco and Charlie to the dog days of Homewood.

sitting up

If you've been keeping up with Mia's blog you know by now that she is already crawling at 5 months. As we all know, all babies are different. Mia has done things her way and waited to start sitting up until after she had crawling mastered!

She was a big girl today and came with mommy to school to help her set up her classroom. I love this time of year! I always enjoy setting up my room and it's so much fun to have Mia keep me company!

I was hanging something on the wall today and turned around and there she was sitting up playing with her toys! I am glad I had my blackberry handy and quickly took a picture, even though she was able to keep her sit position for quite some time.

playroom

Mia has been enjoying her playroom. It's the one room in our house where we can just let her roam/crawl/scoot and play(it's the lowest level in our house so there is only stairs to go UP in). Mommy is sad that there are only two weeks left of her being home all day with Mia. Where did the past 6 months go? Luckily the life of a teacher has it's benefits of many days off, early dismissals and short work days! Mia's daycare lady is only 2 minutes (yes I timed it) from mommy's school and she is SUPER with the kiddos. Mia will make some good friends and have fun playing all day long. I am thankful that I was able to stay home her first 6 months of life. It's going to be hard, I don't even want to think about it but it's the best situation possible for us since I have to go back to work!
