spring break 2

The girls and I headed up to our michigan house with Grandma early Wednesday. The weather was chilly but sunny and really springlike! We took the kiddos to see Oz the Great and Powerful - the witches were a little loud and scary for Annie but we all enjoyed it - great movie. Then we headed to dinner and home to relax. Thursday we went to get our nails done then went to St. Joe's for their Egg festival in the carousel area. We headed to our favorite pizza place, Silver Beach, for dinner. Friday we hung out and played outside then took the girls to Surfari Joe's for some water park fun. Annie did great, she went down the green slide all by herself! Mia was such a good big sister and held her hand up the rope ladder and made sure she sat and slide down safely. I took each of the girls down the BIG raft slide and they had a blast. We stayed one more night then headed back home early Saturday morning. What a fun spring break we had in Kentucky and Michigan :)

Louisville

We took the kiddos to Louisville, KY for a little mini Spring Break trip from Saturday until Tuesday. We have never been to this city and really enjoyed it. At first the weather report looked great for a local road trip. But it soon changed to cold snowy weather - we still had fun. We had to put our trip to the Kentucky Horse Farm in Lexington on hold since the weather wasn't good for it, but we still had a great time and had lots of fun in Louisville.

We stayed downtown a nice hotel on the river in a suite - it was great and roomy, the girls had their own "apartment" and we had our room in the back with a river view. We took the trolley lots of places and the girls LOVED riding on it. We went to Churchill Downs for a tour and to visit the home of the derby. We saw a few horses and the girls tried on fancy derby hats. We drove around the different areas too. We ate ta a bunch of yummy restaurants. We went to the Louisville Bat Factory and had lots of fun there. We hung out at night in the hotel 's huge atrium area where lots of people were staying - we played cards and had snacks.  The girls also loved walking in the downtown pedways to get to different places in the city and riding the escalator in the hotel - I know it doesn't take much to entertain our kiddos. The girls had a great time and want to go back in the summer to visit the waterparks and of course the horse farm.

The girls and are I headed to the summer house in the morning with Grandma to finish off our spring break there. We are excited!

Mia really seems to enjoy playing piano. Each week Ms Carrie assigns her about 3-4 new songs and correlating workbook pages. She will practice throughout the day and loves playing for us. She is working on intervals both harmonic and melodic and playing both hands. We have flash cards that we practice notes, symbols and rhythms with. Singing in the choir helps her understand music better too. She asked me how long she will take lessons and I said as long as she wants. To which she replied " I want to play forever!!"

Blue Demons!

Friday night Grandma came out for a sleepover. We made our pita pizzas then after bedtime, Grandma and I went to Grape and Grain for a little bit. Saturday early, early Dad and I woke up and participated in our first Duathlon (ran 1.5 miles, biked 10 miles then ran 1.5 miles). It was a lot of fun! Grandma babysat and took Mia to piano. Then we all headed to the Allstate to see the DePaul Blue Demons face Pitt in the last basketball game of the season. Grandma was able to get the box again so we invited the Ruhe's to come. Mia was so excited to have her friend Ben and his brother Lucas join us. We had a great time.  We headed home to watch "Balto" for movie night (another great movie that we inherited from grandma Carolyn). It was a super fun, busy day!

Date night...

for Mia and Dad. For Mia's birthday Daddy gave Mia a card with a special coupon that he would take her on a dinner date then out for ice cream. So today she decided to redeem the coupon. She was SO excited all day. She even took a shower and put a new dress on before her date. As soon as Dad came home, they went out to Mia's choice, Grady's Grille (she even saw her classmate Grady at his restaurant). Then they went out for ice cream at Coldstone. Dad put her to bed to end their date together. Annie and I stayed in and had our own little time together. She talked my ear off and I loved every minute of it.

Props go out to any parent that has more than 3 kids! I am babysitting another baby for the next few weeks to help a friend of a friend out and boy, having 4 kids in the house is nuts! The girls are all super good, the baby, who is a boy, is a little colicky so it's been interesting. He's only with us a few hours in the afternoon and I think we are all adjusting

And finally we had a decent snowfall! Almost 10 inches fell yesterday. Mia's school was canceled. I shoveled throughout the day but still when Corey got home he had to shovel it all over again. The girls had fun playing outside with their friends next door and then in our yard. We came in for some hot cocoa before dinner :)

weekend

Saturday the WPAA (our parents board that I am secretary on) of Mia's preschool hosted a concert, Scribble Jim and Scribble Jayne. It was so cute, the girls had a blast and saw lots of their friends there. Annie really got into the songs and the girls both liked "I love Chocolate Milk" song the best!

Mia had spirit week at preschool. Wednesday was "wacky Wednesday" so her and Annie both had fun dressing up all silly and mixed up!

Dad took the girls to piano on Saturday - Mia is now playing two hands at a time! It's getting harder but she is determined :)  Soccer season is just around the corner too. The girls had fun in the snow this weekend and made a snowman with Dad.
