sleepover

Mia had a sleepover this weekend at Grandma's house. She had fun playing with her and Papo and Uncle Brian and Aunt Pam came over to have dinner with them. She came home Sunday with a new friend, his name is "Roar" from Lincoln Park Zoo. She kept feeding him and Hank last night, giving them drinks and even gave them different parts of the newspaper to read last night. Mom and dad had a quiet weekend doing some shopping, having a nice dinner out and enjoyed sleeping in on SUNDAY! wow I haven't slept until 8:30 in years! I actually got up at 6:30 but made myself go back to sleep...it was so nice!

Here are some photos of Mia over the weekend at Grandma's. Glad she had fun in the city.

19 months

I am a few days behind but Mia turned 19 months on Monday! She has grown so much in just the past few months. It's amazing!
Nothing really new to report. She is still very attached to Hank. He got all full of ravioli sauce at her sitters so before bedtime I had to sneak him down to the laundry and dad dried him just in time for bed - she gets very upset if DOG isn't with her. She is obssessed with stickers and my purse. These two things will keep her occupied for a long time! She likes to put stickers on the floor, on her body, on our faces, on the dogs, anywhere and everywhere.
Here are some photos of her: left is from Christmas when she was 10 months old; the other is her earlier this week pointing to the birds in our backyard.

happy anniversary

Sunday was our 6th wedding anniversary. Time sure does fly by. We were looking at our wedding photos and Mia just loved to look at this one black and white photo of us..she kept pointing and saying "dad, mama" so excited! I have had a bad cold all weekend, as did Mia, so we really kept a low key this weekend. Saturday we did manage a dinner at Bamboo Blue which was so fun. Sunday dad did all the errands for us while I rested at home then he took Mia to the library in the afternoon to get her out a little bit (we usually go on Saturdays). Sunday I made lasagna (dad's choice for dinner) and Dad made us a cake (mom's choice) and we had a quiet family dinner at home.

No new pictures to post but I will put some up in a few days...Mia is so cute still with her dog Hank, he had to come to dinner with us. She kept feeding him and giving him water to drink. She also took him on a walk with dad and kept giving him leaves and stones. I love it! She is getting really good at coloring and loves to do her puzzles. She love when we sing Down By the Bay at night (bay as she calls it) and we have a little joke while we read it to her, she mocks the mom covering her mouth in one of the photos so we all started to mock the mom and we were in stiches on Friday night before bed...so cute!

1st Cubs game

On Sunday we took Mia to her first National League baseball game - Cubs vs the Reds. We had awesome seats (thanks to daddy's friend at work) 6 rows behind home plate - not too bad for a first game! Mia had a blast - she made friends with some girls behind us, loved watching the birds (bwerds as she calls them) fly over our heads when a pop fly was hit, and she LOVED clapping whenever the fans cheered. She did great, only slept for about 5 mins on the train but still had a great time.

She has been so cute lately with her stuffed animals. Yesterday she emptied out two of her drawers and tried to put the clothes on one of her Elmo dolls..then the same Elmo doll she insisted on taking him into her bath this evening..I finally gave in (he is drying as we speak) and she tried to get him to drink water with her bath stacking cups - too stinking cute!!

mom's birthday

This past Tuesday was my birthday - I'm old! Not only did I have to teach all day but we had our Open House that evening. So, we did not get to celebrate much. Corey and Mia made me a yummy yellow cake with chocolate frosting - one of my favorites! Corey also taped him and Mia singing happy birthday to me so when I got home, since she was already in bed sleeping, he played it for me before I ate my birthday cake. It was really cute.

labor day

The last true weekend of the summer! We spent the weekend at our summer house in Michigan. The leaves are already starting to turn - it was so pretty. Mia was able to spend time with Aunt Christie who was in town to check out some wedding places, Uncle Brian, Uncle Kelly, Grammy and Papo too. She loves being around her family and getting all sorts of love and attention. Her favorite part was the pontoon boat ride - she didn't even fall asleep on it this time! She grew attached to George "girge" and ditched Hank her beagle this weekend. George had to go everywhere with her, she even tried to feed him her lunch! We had a little celebration for mom's birthday on Saturday which was fun. Mia loves saying all the farm animal noises over and over again for the cow, sheep, pig, duck, horse...I love to watch her using logic when stacking up her cups, putting back a puzzle or figuring out different thinking toys.

week in review

This was our first full week back to school/Diane's. It went great. The first few days Mia did a 'pathetic' walk and cry when I left. It was so heartbreaking. But by Wednesday she was off to her seat at the breakfast table and happy as a clam to eat her blueberries and waffles. Such a good thing when she is like that. Makes me feel better about leaving.

She has finally become very attached to some of her stuffed animals. Her big beagle dog she received for her first birthday now has to go with her to Diane's - she has to hold him anywhere we go in the car - it's so cute! She also has taken her farm to Diane's but insists on holding all 6 cow, pig and sheep in her arms in the car too!

Hording - I was just reading in Parents magazine how from ages 2-3 kiddos like to horde objects around the house. This is so true! Mia has taken a likening to one of mom's cabinets with corning and stoneware (yikes and heavy) and loves to line them all in a row in the living room. She also tries her hardest to sit inside one of my TINY TINY TINY Le Creuset dishes and gets so mad when she can't fit in - too cute!
