spring break 2010

We are home after a long week in Florida. We had a great time and the weather was perfect. It's always nice to get away but even nicer to come home, rested and refreshed. I enjoyed not planning meals and cooking all week but now am ready to get back into the swing of things.

Highlights from the trip:
* Mia rode her first pony! She wasn't scare at all, was very serious and had a natural position on her pony, Dylan. She loved it and I hope she will be a rider like I was growing up.
* Beach and pool time. We spent one day at clearwater beach (Mia loved digging in the sand with her shovel and filling up her dump truck and she liked making sand castles with daddy). Our hotel pool was on the roof deck and had a great view of Tampa Bay and a great sunset view too. Mia loved the pool and doing up and down with Daddy.
* Lowry Zoo (great zoo, very clean and huge, we didn't even get to walk the entire thing because Mia fell asleep). It was super crowded but we had a blast.
* Spring Training - our first day we headed to the Tigers baseball game and saw them play against the Pittsburg Pirates. Mia's favorite part was watching daddy throw her new ball to some boys and watching them play catch. She got her first Tigers baseball cap and a ball that daddy bought her.
* Children's Museum in St. Peterburg's - we went on Saturday and they had a bunch of Easter activities that Mia enjoyed, she saw real bunnies and the easter bunny himself
* Lots of good meals in Ybor City, Hyde Park, St. Petersburg and other areas we discovered. Mia especially liked the neat park we found in Hyde Park that had great equipment that was just her size. We had our Easter dinner at a greek restaurant to celebrate. Very yummy.
* relaxing, sleeping in and not doing any chores!
* We also checked out the World Cup Qualifier grand prix horse show where there were olympian riders that mommy used to watch when she was a little girl.

The not so fun stuff...TANTRUMS! Mia had a least one per day. Mostly when she was overtired and trying to do it herself. She is really into dressing herself and will get frustrated when she can't do it. The flight out to FL was great up until the last 10 minutes....then she did the scream all out tantrum that I dreaded on an airplane. Thankfully the plane ride home went much better and she did great.

She developed a fever yesterday and was very sleepy. At 6pm she said "mommy jammy, go sleep" so I changed her, she crawled into her new big girl bed by herself (first time ever sleeping in there) and went to sleep until 7am this morning. She didn't have a fever this morning so she went to Diane's and I hope she is ok. She was very excited to see Charlotte and play. Here she is in her big bed before we bought her new pillows and her bed rails were put up.
I will post more pictures later but these are just from my iphone: Daddy, Mia and Hank on the airplane, Mia riding Dylan (she looks so small!), Mom and Mia at sunset (moments before a huge I WANNA GO BACK TO THE POOL tantrum), Mia eating mexican, easter bunny ears and Clearwater beach.

I have officially hit 35 weeks!! Now it's time to get the hospital back packed, wash the baby clothes and get diapers and supplies! The countdown is on....

34 weeks

Finally we are on spring break! So excited to have this time off and just relax. School drama with our loser superintendent and my students acting crazy have me so stressed out. Glad to be away for awhile.

We had a pretty productive weekend. All of Mia's furniture is set up and we plan to transition her into her new room after our trip to Florida. She is really excited and loves playing in there. Today we had an early Easter brunch with Grammy, Papo and Uncle Brian since we'll be out of town for Easter. They brought over Mia's new dollhouse bookshelf and we spent the afternoon filling it with her books and stuffed animals (that have been hiding in her toy chest). She is such a little spitfire and makes us laugh so hard. Saturday she had to try on ALL of her new clothes at once, so she had about 5 outfits on yesterday and walked around the house as happy as could be saying "look at me daddy, look me".

Our beagles are at Grammy and Papo's for the week and we miss them. I love that Mia is growing up with her doggies. She adores them both and she kept asking me all night "mommy where charlie bosc go?...Grandma's house?". I know she misses them. Here is a silly picture of us, daddy wanted a group shot using the timer, Mia refused to get into any photos so we all finally gave up...as soon as we all went downstairs she said "one more picture!!!" so we went back up and she sat down....everything revolves around the 2 year old right? haha

33 weeks

Friday I had my check-up and everything looked just fine. Measurement and heart rate were right on target and I gained 2 pounds! Mia loved hearing her sister's heart beat. I have been feeling pretty good, just a little heart burn and tiredness. But the nesting has begun and we have been doing some spring cleaning in the house going through closets and such. Mia's new furniture is being delivered this weekend so I am excited about that.

Here are a few photos of to enjoy...me at 33 weeks and Mia playing outside when the weather was nice and at music class. She loves the tambourine!

spring!

We are being teased with some great spring weather this week. Mia and I have been taking the dogs for a walk then playing outside. Yesterday we did sidewalk chalk and she was having a great time coloring on the sidewalk - she'd color something and say "beautiful". She is such a silly girl, we just love her to bits. She has made up her own song, it goes "mama bear, papa bear, baby bear". She can also sing the words to Ding Ding went the Trolley (her version "Ding, ding trolleeeeyy, ring, ring, bellll, zing, zing, heartbeat, moment, saw you, felllll). She loves music. Still demanding either Justin, Jack or Pearl Jam on car rides....trying to get her into other bands but those are her three favorites!

32 weeks

32 weeks already. We got alot accomplished this weekend in Mia's new room - carpet was laid, Corey and Papo hung up the new ceiling fans and Grandma and I picked out a closet curtain and valances (grandma is making them) for the windows. Now we just wait for the furniture and then my big project of switching the closets (I can't wait to do this to get all the baby's clothes washed and set up). I am thankful we have two rooms for the girls to each have their own.

Mia has been practicing being a big sister. She will feed her babies their bottles and read them stories and change their clothes - it's very cute to watch. She still names her babies "Toby" and when we ask her what we should name her sister she says "Toby". Hmmmmm

being pregnant

some of my favorite things about being pregnant...
1. feeling the baby kick and move around - love that feeling!
2. not feeling guilty about having that second brownie knowing I will only be this 'size' for a little bit
3. going UP a cup size and being able to wear certain things with some extra support :)
4. maternity pants are SO comfy
5. discovering new cravings for different foods

some of my not so favorite things
1. the sneeze/pee moment - HATE that
2. the heartburn that is starting to creep up
3. the first (and second) trimester gagging and throwing up
4. feeling huge with swelling and not being able to see below my belly
5. the unwanted comments from others....annoying!

31 weeks!

31 weeks already!!! Suddenly this pregnancy is going really fast. Friday I had my check-up and all looked great. My BP was 120/66 (high for me but still considered normal) and I gained 3 lbs. The baby's heartrate was in the 140's and my Dr. said she is guessing the baby is about 3 lbs now. So all looked good. I do have slight swelling and heartburn has begun! It's terrible! Here I am again in my lovely kindergarten classroom bathroom taking a photo of myself again. I feel huge but hope this baby stays put for another good 9 weeks!

Mia started her music class again this Saturday. She loved it! She enjoyed the gathering drum, bells, shakers, tambourines, and all the other instruments she got to play. I can tell she really enjoys it more now that she is older and can tell me what songs she sang during class. One of her favorite errands to run with me is to do grocery shopping at Walt's. She always has one red apple and a slice of cheese from the deli.
