Memorial Day weekend

Another great, long weekend in Michigan at the summer house. We got up there on Friday and stayed until Monday. The girls had a blast playing in their new bounce house from Grandma and Papo and especially hanging out with their cousins Christopher and Patrick and uncles, aunts and Papa. We had cool weather so no swimming but we enjoyed going to South Haven for lunch, playing in the bounce house and chasing each other outside, walks, ice cream at Driftwood, Pontoon boat ride, some of the adults went to a winery, celebrating the cousins Birthdays and just being together. Everyone had a great time! Annie received some cute presents from her family, an adorable purse from Papa, clothes and shoes from Grandma/Papo, Tea Set from Aunt Christie/Uncle Chris and a sprinkler, bug hunting kit and jump rope and frisbee from the Wolfes. Great time, looking forward to more down the road.

Goodbye preschool...hello Kindergarten!

Wednesday was Mia's last day of preschool. It was very bittersweet. I am excited, as is she, for her to be moving onto Kindergarten. But then I feel sad knowing I won't be dropping her off at preschool anymore! The two years at FCC flew by and we were so lucky to have had the wonderful experience she had there. She made friends, as did we, that we will have for years to come. It's been great to see Mia grow in so many different ways. We are so proud of her, just for being her. I know she is going to EXCEL in elementary school and I can't wait to see her grow.
Today was our end of the year picnic, but since the weather was so rainy and COLD, we had it at the school, combined with the other 4/5 yr old class, which was great so Mia could see all of her friends. The kids played in the different classrooms then we had a huge lunch, inside picnic (one of the boys in the school owns a local restaurant so his mom donated yummy food for us all). The girls had a great time and soon Mia hugged her teacher good bye. We also found out one of her good friends, Chloe, has a summer house near ours, so we look forward to seeing her over the summer up there and meeting for up ice cream at Driftwood!

Mia was helping dad prepare the soil for our veggie garden. We planted all of our herbs and most veggies. We want to get a few more veggies (Kale and eggplant).

Rail Days in Homewood was this weekend. The girls saw tons of model trains, were able to control some and we took a ride around town on the train. It was fun, but super hot!

feels like summer!

The weather being so nice has been great with lots of outdoor play. We did get bit with the stomach bug which hasn't been fun. First it hit Annie, now it's running it's course through Mia. We've had lots of playdates with our neighbors, the kids just love each other and play so nicely together!

Saturday was a fun day. First we went to local 5K, it was my third year running. Most of our running group was there and it was such a great time. The kids all played at the park and cheered us on with our cow bells. Then we had Mia's soccer game - even though she did get sick at the game, she wanted to play and did a great job - Soccer Stars are undefeated!. Her friend Sophie came over  and they played, we went to the Farmer's Market and then we did some gardening, planted herbs: cilantro, basil, oregano, rosemary and bought some veggies to plant after we prepare the soil.

Later after an early dinner, we went to our neighbors for a bonfire and snacks. The kids had a great time and got to stay up later. We made smores and had a nice visit. My neighbor and I cheered to running our personal best 5K race :)

Mother's Day tea

This morning Mia and I attended her Mother's Day tea at preschool. She was so excited! The kids made us blueberry muffins, we had snacks and tea. The kids sang us songs and ms oleary read us " I love you stinky face". Then the kids gave us little books they made. It was a great party and bittersweet as Mia will be moving on to kindergarten this fall. Her preschool is the best.
