Soccer Star & piano

Mia scored two more goals last Saturday - Annie and I missed the game as it was the same time as Annie's ballet class. Only two more weeks of soccer left! She has been doing great passing to her teammates and playing good defense!

Mia is doing great playing piano still. Her pieces are getting harder so it's taking her a little longer to learn them, but she is still doing super great and playing beautifully. It will be just about one year that she has been playing - I can't believe how fast that year fly - and how much she has learned!

bedtime chatter

mom: Annie, do you want to go to Neve's Halloween party?
Annie: shakes head yes
mom: do you want to bring sissy, you can bring a sibling?
Annie: no
mom: why not
Annie: because she's too old
mom: why is she too old?
Annie: because she already knows how to read

Annie mentions a girl in her class, Nina.
Mom: Do you like playing with Nina?
Annie: nooooo
Mom: why?
Annie: because she is a monster

Annie's first field trip...

And her first school bus ride. The weather was chilly and a light rain (sorta looked like snow) but we had lots of fun. I took the day off to be a chaperon so it was fun to wear my mommy hat for the day. We went to Goebbert's farm in Barrington which was a great farm. We took a hay ride, saw a movie about the farm hosted by Farmer Bob, went through a corn maze and went to a great petting zoo with Capybaras, kangaroos, water buffalos, baby bengal tigers, zebras (Annie's favorite), giraffees, Kokaburras, and more. The kiddos took home an ear of Indian corn, a gourd and a small pumpkin.

One of Annie's friend, Owen, was with us for the day. He is the brother of one of my student's and Annie likes playing with him and he likes playing with Annie. She liked the bus ride and both kiddos fell asleep on the way back to school.

We got back to school early so we signed Mia out early and headed home to have a nice afternoon. It was a fun day!

Learning

On the way to school today Annie pointed out maple trees then proceeded to point out oak trees on the way home. She also told us about "crops" and "meat is from chickens" and how to say wait in Spanish. It's neat to see her express what she's learning and even more so that she tells it on her own terms (she does not like being asked questions but rather given space to talk when she's ready). Love the independence!

Mia and I had a great field trip day at the pumpkin farm. Farmer Paul taught the kids lots of neat things and we enjoyed the perfect weather!

GOAL!!!! and some fall fun!

Mia did AWESOME at the soccer game this Saturday. She scored her first goal followed by her second and almost third and fourth and did an amazing job on defense - she really was on fire and played her hardest! Annie had fun at ballet too.
We headed to the summer house this weekend with mommy's best friends from high school and our little friend Miguel, grandma joined us too. Our great plans to do some apple picking and pumpking scouting were dampened by lots of rain but we managed to have a great time hanging out. The skies finally cleared late afternoon on Sunday so we headed to St. Joe's for lunch and stopped at a pumpkin farm for a little bit. It was a nice weekend catching up and letting the kiddos play.
