Baby

Annie has become very fond of a baby doll. The girls have beautiful bitty babies but no...she loves this old dirty baby that was mias first baby actually.
Annie is so cute though. She takes baby everywhere, explains where we are going, what we are doing. Baby has to sit in her highchair at the table with us for meals. Baby comes with us wherever we are going and now her stroller has to come with us in the van so she can sit with us. Also when Mia is at school, Annie insists baby rides in Mia's car seat with straps buckled. It's really so cute to see Annie telling the baby things, whispering to her, telling me shhhh baby is sleeping, etc etc. first baby was tillie, then it's baby Corey but mostly it's just baby. Annie seriously plays with baby all day long. If she does puzzles baby has to see, if she's coloring baby has to watch.

Weekend recap

Aunt Stacy and Mia

Another busy but fun weekend:
* Saturday Mia had her Soccer pictures then her third game. Aunt Stacy came to visit and watch her play. It was chilly out and windy but the Soccer Stars won. Mia did great fielding the ball. Then dad took her to piano practice and Aunt Stacy, Annie and I went to the farmer's market. Later on, the girls, dad and I went to visit our friends Mary and Sean in the city. The guys watched the Michigan v. Notre Dame game. Mary and I took the girls to the park then we ate and hung out. It was so fun! The girls packed their pj's so ended up watching TV on Mary's bed then we headed home around 10pm. We picked Grandma up on the way home for a sleep over.

*Sunday morning we headed to the District 153 Fund Run to support our local schools. Dad and I got to run sans the jogging stroller since Grandma came. We had fun. I finished first in my age group which was nice. Then Mia ran the 153 yard dash and came in 2nd. Her and Annie had celebratory ice creams. Mia had fun hanging out with her friends, Grandma and Annie. They had bunch of activities for the kids too. It was perfect running weather
Mia finishing 2nd!

It was a nice weekend. The girls played outside all afternoon while Dad burned a bunch of twigs we've had out back for a long time. Lot's of fresh air this weekend for sure!

Busy Saturday

Practicing on keyboard

Mia had her first piano lesson this morning with our neighbor. She had fun. Then we went to her soccer game where she scored a goal! Her team won today! Grandma and papo came to cheer her on too.
Then grandma took the girls and me out to lunch in Lincoln park and to Lill studio to design a purse for my birthday!
The girls and I came home then I met my good friend Sandy for the Jason Mraz concert. It was great but chilly since its an outside venue. The girls and dad had a campfire and camp out tonight. Its a chilly night but so far they seem warm!

First soccer Game and birthday weekend

Friday night we baked my birthday cake but then the girls and Corey took me out for my birthday to the Brewery and had a special cake so we had bday cake for Saturday breakfast!

Saturday was Mia's first soccer GAME! She did awesome - was right in there taking the ball out and kicking it towards the goal. She played most of the game. They did lose 1-0 but it was a great game! Then we took the kiddos to grandma and papo's for the night. Corey and I headed downtown for a sleepover and  my third Half Marathon. We had lunch at Rockwell's in ravenswood then took the train down to our hotel...we quickly went over to Navy Pier to pick up my race packet then headed back to rest. We went out for pizza and salad at Italian Village then met one of my BFF Mary and Sean for drinks at Elephant and Castle and dessert for my birthday - it was a great day!

We went to bed by 1130 then up at 5am! Headed down to Jackson Park and I ran the Chicago Half Marathon. Corey saw me at mile 4 and my Aunt Stacy and Uncle John (played the congo drums) were at mile 8! It was amazing - a hard run but I finished in 1:52 - 15 minutes better than last year. We headed back to the hotel to rest then we grabbed coffee, the train and back up north to pick up our little family. We missed the girls (and beagles) but it was a refreshing weekend away.

Mia's first day

I guess I forgot to post that last Wednesday was Mia's meet your teacher day. She is in the Sunshine room with Mrs. O'Leary. Half of the kids were in her class last year so she is excited to make new friends and see her old friends. A few of her friends are in other classes but she will get to play with them on the playground as all the 4 year old classes have recess together.
She is excited to learn a lot this year. Her enrichment class, Readers are Leaders, will start in a few weeks.

This is in our way to school.

She said she had a great day! They celebrated her friend Charlie's birthday so had a cupcake snack. She said her favorite thing was "cutting things up" and she said the new girl Rachel asked her to be her friend so she said "yes". Mia also hung up her picture we made of our family and the dogs, Annie wrote on it too and we wrote We Love You Mia - she said she looked at it all day whenever she missed us. She said she also did calendar today as her job.

biking and swimming

Today we had the day off and it was fun. We took a bike ride on a local trail this morning. Each girl rode in their bike seats on the back of our bikes. Dad and I rode about 7.5 miles and the girls had fun. We stopped at one of their favorite parks on the way home. Then after lunch we headed to the Pool for one last swim before it closes for the summer.

Mia is swimming! We are so proud of her - she was swimming to the wall from daddy then back to him for a good long distance with no water wings. Then her bff Sophie came and they were swimming parallel. We also played in the toddler pool. We will keep Mia swimming during the summer/winter to keep her new skills sharp. Yeah Mia!

Labor day

We headed to the summer house on Friday and came home late Sunday. Saturday dad and I woke up early - I ran and dad biked. Then we went out to Air Zoo in Kalamazoo which was fun. Then had dinner and headed back to the house for our last trip of the summer to the Driftwood for ice cream. The girls watched The Lorex before bed then we all stayed up to watch Michigan lose!

Sunday we went on the pontoon then had lunch at the wright place and headed home. It was a great weekend. Sad to see the summer ending but excited for fall!
Fun at Air Zoo!
