Stuff

Nothing much to report. The girls started swimming class on Saturday. We took Mia ice skating on Sunday and her glides are getting much better and longer!

Yesterday we had the day off for Pulaski Day so I took the kids to the Science and Industry museum - they loved it! We saw a chemistry show which was really neat. Mia loved the tornado exhibit where we saw a live vortex. We rode a huge simulated tractor and plowed corn fields They loved the trains and model railroads We spent almost 4 hours there and still didn't see everything so we will go back with daddy.

Friday for Dr Seuss day we made hats and read some Dr Seuss books and watched the PBS Cat in the Hat show. Daddy took Mia to a Dr Seuss event at the library Saturday afternoon.

4 yr old check up

Mia did great at her 4 year old check up. Dr Roome asked her what her favorite food is and she answered "spinach" haha! She is 35 lbs and 40 in tall - a bit above the 50th percentile! Dr Roome said she looks perfect and to keep up all her healthy eating habits (she proudly told him she was having fish and broccoli for dinner). He was also happy to hear about all her activities she is in.

Her is Mia who just solved her new 48 piece puzzle from Aunt Gayle, a wizard of oz puzzle!

Today at the library we bumped into two of Mia's friends from school, Jacob (one of her BFF) and Lily who were with their babysitter. Jacob says to me " did Mia want to see me is that why you are here". Funny boy :)

Mia also had a speech screening at school this week. Her teacher said her language scores were super high! No speech needed. Annie sure has a tough act to follow, Mia truly is one smart little girl!

Ice skating party

Mia's ice skating party was a blast! Her friends from school, our family and some other friends joined in on the fun - about 50 of us. Everyone ice skated (from our almost 2 yr old cousin Mady to Grandma and Papa!) - we had the small ice skating rink all to ourselves. Mia skated for a good portion of our skating time. Most of her friends all skated for the first time. We then had some munchies, sang happy birthday and had cupcakes then opened gifts in our party room. By that time the party was over. But we had a little after party at out house so that Mia could play with her cousin Christopher and play with all her new gifts. Everyone had a great time and Mia received so many nice gifts. It was fun for the adults and kiddos to be able to skate. What a great day!!!!

I will post pictures later this week. Daddy's friend who is a student photographer and ice skater actually came to help out and take photos. Once she edits the pics I will upload some. The girls stayed up late but had a blast! it's been a fun week celebrating Mia turning 4 :)

Happy birthday Mia!

Mia is 4!!! Amazing. Daddy took the day off so we could celebrate with Mia all together. When Mia woke up, her and Annie crawled in our bed and we told Mia her entire birth story...then we headed downstairs to open her gifts. This year we bought her a red scooter (her favorite), crocs, Rapunzel Tower and all the figurines that go with it, more furniture sets for her doll house, Gnomeo and Juliet, Annie bought Mia "Me...Jane" and "A Ball for Daisy"the 2012 Caldecott winner and honor books. We started the day off with a breakfast at Blueberry Hill, the girls were allowed to get chocolate chip pancakes (truly a treat, they never ever had them). They ate more of their fruit than the pancakes (and my omlet) but did enjoy it. Then we went to the Frankfort Children's museum, per Mia's request. We headed home for lunch and to play with the new toys. Daddy took the girls for a walk and Mia rode her scooter around for a bit. Then Daddy and the girls made Mia's birthday cake (our favorite triple chocolate birthday cake recipe, we make for all out birthdays) and I made homemade mac and cheese, meatballs and peas per Mia's request. The girls had a fun day and had a nice bath to wrap up the day. Tomorrow we are bringing Sweet Annie bakery cookies to Mia's class for her classroom party...then Saturday is the big Ice Skating Party!

Mia is amazing, so smart, so sweet and very mature! It's hard to believe I'm speaking to a 4 year old sometime, like her teacher said her vocabulary is so good sometimes you forget how old she is. She was so excited to turn 4 since most of her friends have turned 4 already. She is excited to go to school to tell everyone she is 4. She received a lot of phone calls, emails, text messages, cards and gifts already :)

A little late but ....Happy Valentines Day. Daddy bought the girls matching heart necklaces. We made a valentine cake and had heart shaped grilled cheese and tomato soup for lunch. Daddy brought each of us a rose home too. It was a nice day

This weekend the girls had a sleepover at grandma and papo's. They did lots of fun stuff like going to the Rainforest Cafe for dinner and the little bean playhouse. Dad and mom had a busy weekend but managed to go out for a late dinner Saturday night at one of our favorite Italian restaurants , Isabella's. It was nice to sleep in but were very happy to have the girls come home on Sunday!

21 months -Annie

She is acting more like a two year old these days! Annie is a hugable little girl, very independent, very decisive and loves to be silly. Her vocabulary is exploding, seems like she is saying new words daily. She loves helping take care of Tillie, although sometimes she is a little aggressive. She's just a sweetie and so fun to hang out with all day. She loves taking Mia to school, goes right in the classroom and starts playing. She is into building train tracks, doing dress up, playing in the dollhouse, painting with watercolors, doing her tag junior, dancing with Mia, the list goes on.

She is starting to recognize letters, a, b, c and can count from 1-5. Smarty pants like her big sis.

We are still doing story hour on Wednesdays and in a few weeks both girls will start swimming.

She lives taking baths, brushing her teeth and watching daddy gargle.

We had a fun weekend. Saturday was Mias skating lesson, then we had aunt Stacy's grandsons Aidan's birthday party. The girls had fun and fun dancing with all the kids.

Sunday after church dad and Mia went to open ice skating, Annie and I watched from the grandstands - actually Annie danced like mad to the loud skating music. We made chili, cornbread and brownies for Super Bowl. We let the girls stay up to see the halftime show in which they both danced to Madonna, i loved her growing up so it was cute to see them dancing to her. We also watched the puppy bowl a bit and they both loved it. Annie kept screaming at the dogs and Mia liked watching the water bowl cam.
