field trip

Today was Mia's first field trip with her preschool. Daddy took the day off to take her but Annie and I decided to tag along. We were asked to drive one of Mia's classmates since her mom and dad work, so that was an extra bonus - Mia loved that we had to take her friend to the field trip. They held hands in the car and played the entire field trip. So cute

We went to Wind Acre Farms in Beecher. It was really nice, very small and perfect for the kiddos. We took a hayride out to pick our pumpkins then they had greenhouses set up with different activities in each one (great idea since it was super cold out today). The kiddos got to decorate their pumpkin, do a mini corn maze, feed the farm animals then play lots of games. It was nice and the kids all enjoyed it.

Sock hop

We took Mia to her schools's sock hop tonight. The kids loved it! We took Annie in her pj's since it was going to be past her bedtime. Of course once we got there and she heard the music she hit the dance floor. She finally crashed out on daddy's shoulder.

Mia had a great time with her friends Sophie, Jacob, nick, Jonah, Abby and everyone from her preschool. I found her an adorable poodle girls jacket and glasses. She was a hit. What a fun night. Her preschool is just great.

smooth criminal

So Annie LOVES the song "Smooth Criminal". We played it for her once since MJ sings "Annie are you ok, Annie are ok Annie?" and she dances like crazy when we play it. If I sing it or hum it she demands I play it right away. Too cute...so needless to say there are lots of Caporale girl dance parties to that song.

Go Blue

Dad and Mia went to the Northwestern v. Michigan game at Ryan Field in Evanston last night. Our neighbor is an alum and has season tickets, knowing daddy is a Michigan fan, he gave us two tickets. They had a great time and were right across the street from the first school I taught at, St. A's. Daddy even took Mia to "Mustard's Last Stand" the best hot dog stand ever in Evanston, for dinner. They had a great time and watched Michigan win.

17 months - Annie

Annie is 17 months old! She wants to be apart of everything and will take her stool and move it everywhere to help out. She was helping me make pizza on Friday by rolling out the dough :) She is such a sweetheart, loves to give us hugs and kisses but is very decisive. When she wants something and she has her mind set on it, there is no stopping her. She loves other kids, has a great time at storyhour and even recognizes her friends now. She loves the little boy I watch and gets super excited when we pick him up. She is running all over the place, still needs help coming down the stairs, Mia loves to pick her up and carry her around and put her on the couch - sometimes Annie loves this, other times not so much. They really get along great but have their moments. Annie does NOT like to share, she will even push/pull other kids when we are out playing if they are in her space. She picks out her shoes everyday and gets upset if I try to put on a pair she doesn't want. Her hair is super long and so blonde - but she hates when I put it in piggytails, although when Mia puts on a headband she will point to her head and insist on a clip in her hair. She is a happy girl and gets excited over every little thing we do!

Indian summer

We are really enjoying this great weather before that cold Chicago winter weather is upon us. The girls and I took a late afternoon train downtown to play at the park on Randolph and take the train back home with daddy. We got to grab a quick dinner too :)

Fall girls weekend

Grandma came early Friday to spend the day with us before we headed to the summer house for our annual fall weekend. After Micah was picked up we packed up and headed to Michigan. Luckily both girls went to bed easily and grandma and I enjoyed a fire and some wine.

Sarurday we woke up early and after breakfast out we went Sprague farm for some pumpkins then tried a new farm called Butler Farm. It was very nice and had a great petting zoo (with bloodhounds and horses!) and great pumpkins. They are a tree farm and it's neat you pick your trees out now for Christmas. We came back home for lunch and to play. Later we went out for pizza then had a fire before bed.

Sunday morning we went out for breakfast again then went to Jollay Orchard for apple picking. We picked a whole bushel in hopes of making a bunch of applesauce, pies, cakes, etc. The girls loved the hay ride out to the orchards. We headed back in the afternoon. It was tons of fun and the girls are excited to go back to Michigan soon. Thanks grandma!
