11 weeks

As of last Tuesday we officially moved Annie to her crib in her room. She has been doing great, most nights will sleep until 5 or 6 then back down for a bit more, sometimes she wakes up at 3/4 then goes back until 7, but overall great and it's nice to get a long stretch of sleep myself (if only I could stop waking up and going to bed late). It's nice now because we have our bedtime routine with the girls together so that by 830 on a good night they are both sleeping giving us some adult time at night, so I feel like I have my nights back. Nice.

We are so enjoying our summer, most days I have no idea what the date is! Mia started camp last week, it's run by the preschool teacher in our park district. They have different themes and do games, crafts and play outside. Mostly its for her to socialize with more kiddos...Meme from our storyhour is there and our new little friend Lucy is there too. She loves it, I was afraid to leave Mia that first day but she just said "bye mom" and started playing... such a good feeling. Busy doing lots of other stuff this week too, splash pad, library, museum, playdate....fun!

This weekend we went to West beach in the Indiana Dunes and had a great time. Annie was a bit fussy on the way there because she was overtired but once we had the tent set up, we settled in nicely. Both girls fell asleep on the way home. The riptides were so dangerous no one was allowed to swim but it was a breezy day so we just enjoyed the sand.

Roll over

Not only do they look alike but they rolled over at the exact same age! Yesterday during tummy time Annie rolled from belly to back, at 2 months 10 days. I looked up when Mia rolled and again it was at 2 months 10 days! How crazy is that. Annie rolled again today, very exciting news in our house. Hoping to catch it on video soon!

10 weeks

This hot weather is really not for me! I like it at least in the 80's this upper 90 business is not fun! Annie is slowly gaining better control of her head during tummy time, lifting it much higher now. She is still (knocking on wood) sleeping through the night which is wonderful! Naps are still sporadic during the day but we will be getting that more scheduled over the next few weeks. Speaking of naps, Mia has been 'reading' during her naps lately. I don't mind since it's still quiet time by herself in her room but the problem is she reads to herself for 1 1/2 hours then falls asleep! If I wake her up she gets VERY cranky so I have been leaving her alone until she gets up on her own.

We had lots of visitors this weekend; Uncle Brian and Great Grandpa George on Friday, Mary and Sean (thanks again for the pizza guys!) on Saturday then Kathy and Tony (Daddy's cousins from Michigan) on Sunday. It was fun to have everyone over to see the kiddos and visit.

Pictures: Annie during tummy time, Mia and one of her BFF Charlotte at Frankfort's Splash Pad, and Mia falling asleep while reading.

road trip

Friday we drove out to Columbus for Christopher's 3rd birthday. We had a great time. Mia loved playing with her cousin, especially with all of his trains and train tracks! Annie did great for her first LONG road trip (about a 5 1/2 hour drive with no stops). On the way out she did awesome, only stopped for lunch then made it to the hotel. The way home was a little bit longer, we made four stops to nurse, but overall she did way better than we expected. The girls got to see their Aunts Kelly and Christie, Uncle Jason, Papa and of course the birthday boys, plus some second cousins from Grandma Victoria's side. Aunt Kelly's friend did some family photos of us all since its rare we are all together for Papa's birthday present (he turns 60 in August :) It was a great weekend and so nice to see the cousins bond and play together. So sweet!

twins?

Mia on the right at 2 months. They look so alike!

2 months!

Mia and I took Annie for her 2 month check up this morning. She did great! She is weighing in at 10 lbs 7 oz, 22 inches long and head is 38 cm - she is in the 50th percentile for all which is great. Mia weighed 10 lbs 8 oz when she was 2 1/2 months old (her measurement record was delayed because of her hernia surgery - sigh!) So Annie seems to be a little bigger than her sister. Speaking of which, Mia is 28 lbs, still a petite princess.

I had a ton of questions for Dr. Townsend, it's amazing how much you forget but it all comes back and each baby is different. Especially the sleeping thing, Mia never slept and Annie sleeps all the time so I don't know what is normal! He assured me that it's all fine....and yes she has been sleeping through the night! She goes down about 9 then is up about 5am - I am so not used to this! She is hitting all her milestones and is almost rolling over (totally going to take after her big sissy and have those gross motor skills down pat in no time). All in all a good visit despite those nasty shots - at least she won't remember them. Glad my nursing is working for her.

Mia is doing good, she is such a loving big sister. She loves to lay next to Annie and do tummy time with her, she will help me out by getting blankets or picking out outfits for Annie to wear, she loves to 'hold' her and sing to her. Annabel is really smiling now and laughing...it's super, super cute! She looks right at you and just gives you a big smile! It was cute at the doctor's office today Mia said that Dr Townsend "is really tall" (he is). Mia is saying so many cute things, and sentences it's crazy!

Happy Fourth of July!

We are home now after a fun weekend at the summer house in Michigan. It was Annie's first road trip, first summer house trip and first holiday. The ride out on Friday was a little rough, we were stuck in tons of traffic. She didn't sleep at all, much to my surprise. But we finally made it and after dinner and visiting Mia and Annie both slept GREAT Friday night. Mia has her own 'big girl bed' that Grandma and Papo set up for her (thanks Uncle Brian for giving up your room for her!). Annie slept in our room in her bassinet, from 10-530! So nice! Saturday we woke up early and went to Jollay Orchard to do some cherry picking and play in their kiddie farm area. Then we came home and played in the pool, napped then woke up for the big fourth of July parade that passes right in front of the house. We then had a yummy BBQ and hung out. The girls once again both went to bed easily around 8 - Mia did great with all of the fireworks and M80's going on outside, especially the amount going on in the country. She would ask 'what is that sound' then eventually stopped asking and didn't seem scared at all. After the girls went to bed, we watched the town's local firework display from the front yard then the guys had a bonfire and my mom and I hung out for a bit. Sunday morning we took a ride in the pontoon boat then one last dip in the pool before we all headed home late in the afternoon. Both of the girls slept on the way home and there was no traffic so we were home in no time. It was a fun, relaxing weekend. This really seems to be the first time that Mia will remember 'my summer house' as she calls it and 'my pool' as she calls it. We told her she has been going to the summer house since she was little like Annie but she doesn't remember much....now she will!

Pictures are from this weekend. Mia and Annie had matching fourth of July dresses and it was near impossible to get a good shot of them together, but I managed one. The picture of Bosco is of him sleeping with Mia (he was hiding out from all the firework noise!) I snuck in with my camera and took a pic with the flash on - so cute!
