9 month check up

Mia did a good job today at her 9 month check up! Dad and Mom had the day off today and had a fun day with our peanut. Dr. Selig said she is doing great. She is weighing in at 17lbs 9 oz (25th percentile which she has consistently been in since birth), length is 26in (a tad short but nothing to be worried about) and her head is 44 cm (50th percentile). She had a little blood test and did great...she is in the normal range for Iron. Dr. said to keep on giving her table foods, her early bedtime is fine and everything else looked great! We decided to give her the flu shot so she received her first shot today, next one is next month. That was the only shot she received...next round of shots after her first birthday!!!!

Here is Mia playing in her playpen, she actually really likes playing in there and it's a nice place for Mia to play safely while we do things or get ready. She likes to stand and let go with her hands in the air for a few seconds in there. The photo of her eating is how she likes to put her arms in the air when she has successfully put table food in her mouth! Today we tried fresh bananas and cheese, she loved them both! Friday is a jolly holiday and grammy will be watching her!

then there were 4...

I forgot to mention that Mia now has 4 teeth. The other top one cut just about a day after the 3rd one cut! So sleeping has been good again at night. Mia now sleeps from 6pm until about 6am. She does go down so early but I really like this schedule since it gives me a chance to do things at night and she is up early enough to spend time together, eat breakfast and still get to work on time!

This weekend was very chilly. We didn't go out much other than to music class, target and to Walt's. Naps again have been rare this weekend..she fell asleep in daddy's arms while we shopped but was up again in 30 mins. She enjoyed some of daddy's homeade pancakes this morning.

the photo of Mia sleeping is when she FINALLY took a nap after our trip to walt's..hehe

girl stuff

I LOVE having a girl....I feel like I have the cutest doll I get to dress up everyday! so cute! and so fun! ...and so expensive, haha. Mia is doing really good with table foods...she had a turkey meatball and green bean, sweet potato from mommy's slow cooker stew, mashed up carrots and a goldfish cracker. It's so fun to see her eating, picking up the foods and chewing them up!

She is still free standing for a few seconds at a time, wants mommy in the room with her, she doesn't necessarily want to play with me but just wants to know I am there. She loves when you 'chase' her, she cracks up when you say "I am going to getttt you!!". She loves when the dogs come in the room, or when she sees daddy, she will smile and flaps her arms! When she puts something in her mouth, like a cheerio, she does this little dance, she flaps her arms and says "mmmmmmmm". She is loud and talkative at times, quiet other times. She had crawled up the stairs in her playroom, yikes! So we have to watch her like a hawk. Each day is another exciting day to her and she is growing up so fast!

Veterans Day

Happy Veterans Day to Mia's grandpa! We are proud of you grandpa and because of you, we live in a free country!

Mia went to breakfast at Wishbone (mommy favorite breakfast place in the city, one of them) with grammy and mommy. We also did some shopping at Be By Baby (LOVE THAT STORE!). Then we spent some time with Uncle Brian. It was a fun day off today!

weekend update

We had a busy weekend! Grandpa came early Saturday morning to visit. We took Mia to her music class (she really enjoyed it, the nap before we went was a good idea). When we came home Grandpa was here! We spent the day playing and visiting, then went for an early dinner at the brewery. Despite some unusual bad service, Mia did great! We headed home to put our peanut to bed and play some traditional scrabble with grandpa.

Sunday Grandpa and daddy went out for their usual coffee then we said good bye to Grandpa. We all went to the grocery store and Mia was so cute all bundled up in one of her new hats (it's 36 degrees here!!!). Then Mia and mommy went to visit mommy's best friends from high school. We had a great visit and it was so fun to see Mia smiling and laughing at them :)

Photos: Mia with one of her instruments, the close-up is to show her top teeth, Grandpa and Mia, Mia bundled up ready for the winter and the leaves picture is from our trip to the park last weekend.

make that 3

Mia's third tooth has made it's appearance! The top right tooth to be precise! Her two bottom ones are showing very nicely! Grammy came to spend the night last night while mommy had her parent teacher conferences. Mia was sleeping before daddy got home. Mia and grammy had a fun morning while mommy finished up a few more conferences today, then we girls went to breakfast and to do some shopping. Grammy left on the 3pm train and Ms. Mia did not want to take her second nap...so she went to bed at 6pm sharp!

The weather has taken a biter turn! Early in the week we were enjoying some beautiful fall weather....however that quickly has left, so on with the fuzzy hats and new winter coat for Mia!

We are super excited, tomorrow Grandpa Cap is coming to visit!!!! We also may go to see Justin R in Frankfort for another Pop Fly concert. Stay warm everyone!

music for minors

Daddy and Mommy took Mia to her first music for minors class on Saturday. There were four babies in all in the class and the teacher is great. First we started out playing on the huge gathering drum and then sang/danced/acted out lots of songs. Mia got her music kit filled with fun instruments she is already enjoying! We played the cd this morning and she loves shaking her maraca and bells to the beat.

Saturday grammy and greg spent the day with us. We had lots of fun. Mia has been sleeping great again, through the night for her full 12 hours (knocking on a LARGE piece of wood). Unfortunately she isn't aware of daylight savings so she woke up at her normal 6am, only it was really 5am! She is taking a nice morning nap as we speak which is great :)
