firsts

Mia is feeling a little better...her nose is still stuffy and runny. She was a little quiet over the weekend, mostly tired (even though she napped shortly for us) but we did manage a few firsts this weekend.

She ate waffles, egg yolks and pumpkin for the first time this weekend and...she is finally cutting her first TWO bottom teeth! I am 100% certain this time! She had a rough night sleeping last night and just before bed tonight, I put my finger on her bottom gum and felt the little teeth! daddy did too!! So between her cold and teeth, she is a drool monster! We hope she feels better tomorrow :) In the photo where she is laughing, you can zoom in and see two little white lines :)

home sick

I jinxed Mia...the other day I was saying how Mia has NEVER EVER had a cold...guess what, she has her first cold! It isn't too bad, just a runny/stuffy nose. But, mommy decided to stay home today with Mimi. We have been putting baby vick on her feet with socks, sitting her in the bathroom after I get it nice and steamy, elevated the head of her mattress a tad and just started to run a vaporizer in her room. There isn't much else we can do except cuddle her and love her, which isn't very hard to do. She hates the saline drops so I had daddy go in search of boogie wipes, he thinks I made this product up but in fact here is the website: boogiewipes.com. Anyone see this product? If so let me know because I would love to buy some for Mia's nose!

8 months

I am 8 months old now and I can do so many things! I can crawl, sit up, pull to a stand, scream, laugh, giggle, move things from hand to hand, chew cheerios and graham crackers, bang things together, pet my beagles, laugh when I see daddy, talk to my family....oh so many things I bet I forgot a few. I am growing strong everyday and still waiting for my first tooth to come! I have lots of friends! Here I am in my highchair, mommy didn't put batteries in the camera yet so it's a fuzzy blackberry photo but still, you can see how much I have grown! - Mia

baby giraffes

Mommy has been lazy about posting! This weekend Mia had her BFF Ella come visit from Ohio with Uncle Dave and Aunt Brenda. Friday, Mia woke up to greet her visitors at 10pm. She was so happy to see them. Saturday we went to Boo in the Zoo at Brookfield and both Mia and Ella went as Giraffes. All of us kept hearing "look at the baby giraffes" then finally realized they were talking about our girls, not actual baby giraffes. The girls did great at the zoo and got to see many animals. We all went for dinner at the brewery and the girls went to bed nice and early to give the adults some time to catch up and visit. Everyone left on Sunday morning and we can't wait until our next trip in January to Ohio to visit them. Mia and Ella are both growing up so fast and we can't wait to start vacations together :)

Mia has been doing great. This week she has been screaming with joy nonstop! Whenever we go to her play room she screams and literally jumps out of my arms! She can now chew cheerios and is starting to put them in her mouth - such big girl stuff and so very exciting! She was playing peek-a-boo with Charlie tonight before bed. I put a blanket on him then she would go take it off and laugh when she saw him!

Here are some photos from this weekend at the zoo. Our blackberry was our only working camera so they didn't turn out so great but you can still see that we had the cutest babies at the zoo!

did the cat have your tongue?

Mia has found her LOUD voice! I mean a screaming, happy voice that we just adore! It started earlier this week but after her gymboree class on Saturday morning, we bought her a new squishy ball that has a bunch of knobs on it. When we got home, we were playing in her playroom and she just started laughing/screaming everytime she saw the ball! It was so cute!

Daddy and I had a great weekend with Mia. Sunday we took her to Konow's pumpkin farm. She rode her first hayride (a little too bumpy for her) and got to pet some shetland ponies, goats, lamas, pigs and sheep! We took her for a little wagon ride and picked out some pumpkins that we will carve later this week. Grammy and Greg stopped by for a little visit on Sunday afternoon. Mia did not want to nap again with us. At least she goes to bed early and sleeps on car rides.

She is doing great with solid foods. It's funny, we do have a few gerber foods (green beans and prunes, mommy can't seem to make those). I did pick up a squash and they just don't taste as good as mommy's homeade food! Mia has been enjoying her biter biscuits, wagon wheels and some graham crackers and wafers at Diane's. She is getting good at picking up food and self feeding. She is up to three meals a day plus her formula and some nursing (very little now, so sad). She has to steer clear of bananas for awhile, they just don't agree with her.

She is getting braver with her standing. She lets go and holds onto one hand only! She also knows how to plop herself down to a sit which is way impressive. She is starting to cruise around on furniture.

girls weekend

Mia, mommy and grammy had our second girls weekend at the summer house. It was off to a rough start on Friday night when Mia was super overtired and didn't want to sleep! It was a long night but we had lots of fun on Saturday, went to the fair, Jollay Orchard, lunch at the Riverwalk and Mia was down for the night by 7pm. Grammy and Mommy had a nice evening but watched the Cubbies lose their world series hopes! Daddy spent the weekend in Michigan too visiting grandpa Cap and great grandma and grandpa.

A few photos from our girls weekend.

stranger danger!

Mia has now officially entered into the stage of stranger anxiety! I have witnessed it a few times; once at the grocery store the butcher came out to say HI to her and she cried, he felt so bad; also when I dropped her off at Diane's, Charolette's daddy was there and Mia was very upset to see him. She is also realizing that when I leave the room, I am out there somewhere! Or when we hide a toy, it's there somewhere. It's so neat to see her really thinking and analyzing things now. She has a million expressions and has been really trying to talk to us lately.

It's super cute, when she is at Diane's, the little boy Carter just LOVES her and gives her hugs all day long. Hehe. Here are a few photos of our little peanut.....she is watching mommy make pasta fagoli, having fun with daddy in her bunny slippers, standing like a big girl and sitting with mommy in the kitchen.
Mia has her halloween costume, she is going to be .......... stay tuned (and it's NOT a peanut)
