first concert

It was a beautiful day in Chicago for Mia's first concert. Daddy, mommy and Mia took the train down to the Pritzker Pavillion to see our favorite kids singer, Justin Roberts. Grammy and Grandpa H got their early to save us a good spot on the lawn. Although Mia was quite sleepy, she enjoyed watching other kids around her and listening to the familiar voice of Justin singing! Daddy bought Mia the new cd, Pop Fly, and we even got to meet Justin and get his autograph. Mommy told him how when Mia was a newborn and crying alot, she would play "Roller in the Coaster" for her and she would calm down. Justin said no one ever requests that song and was happy that its our favorite because it's one of his favorites too! So next time we see him in concert, to email him and he'll play it just for Mia! We took the train back and despite how sleepy Mia was, she didn't fall asleep (too much to look at!). She did go to sleep extra early tonight!

4th of July vacation

It's good to be home but we had a fun week at our summerhouse! Mia did amazing and we can really tell she grew a lot this week. She is now on her knees ready to crawl, she is almost there! She is scooting herself backwards and forwards....she is all over the place! She is always talking up a storm, since her crib is in our bedroom at the summer house we can hear her through the night. Around 6am she has been saying sounds like "hey,hi, hey, hi" and we can't help but laugh at her.

She had a great time, saw fireworks for the first time (stayed up way past her bedtime but it was worth it) went on the pontoon boat, enjoyed the pool, visited tons of restaurants, took lots of drives to little towns in the country, had a picnic in south haven, got some cool shoes from saugatuck, went to her first minor league baseball game, spent time with grandma and grandpa hallam and grandpa cap and auntie christie, went to the cherry festival and to a winery....it was a busy week!

we're going awwwwway, going away!

Justin Roberts will be playing in the car as we take off tomorrow morning singing "we're going awaaaay, going away!". We are heading to our summerhouse for a nice long week vacation! Daddy is off and we are excited to be getting away. We'll also make a trip to visit great grandma Puroll AND grandma vicki!! Auntie Christie, Grandpa Cap and Uncle Chris plan on joining us on Saturday to take a ride on grammy's new (new to us!) pontoon boat! We also plan to take Mia to St Joe's for their 4th of July fireworks display. Let's hope the weather stays nice, the mosquitoes go away and we all have a good time! We'll report back next weekend! Happy 4th of July everyone!!!

happy baby

In yoga there is a pose called "Happy Baby", it is actually one of my favorites to relax my back. Here is Mia doing what comes naturally to babies! I love it!

ps - that is Sophie the giraffe with her, made in France, a gift from grammy. Suppose to be THE teething toy to own!

it's gone...

I had to do it, I just had to....I cut Mia's little tail off! I snipped it yesterday while she was playing and she didn't even notice! It's safely tucked away in a ziploc in her baby book. She doesn't even notice it's gone :) It makes mommy feel better that she doesn't have a mullet anymore :)
